Why We Chose Irish Black Cattle

.) Genetic Purity… The Irish Black breed has four decades of closed book line-breeding behind it creating a very small gene pool. The Breed has increased levels of desirable homozygous genes to pass on to their offspring. All registered animals have been DNA tested to guarantee parentage, this ensures that the breed remains 100% pure.

.) Hybrid Vigor…..The proof is in the crossbreds. The genetic concentration of the bulls has tightened up the consistency and uniformity in our calves. This has allowed us to achieve predictable genetics with concentrated desirable traits.

.) High Efficiency Cows: Don’t let her smaller frame fool you! It doesn’t take a big cow to produce a big calf. One of the many reasons we were drawn to Irish Black Cattle is the cow’s ability to wean a calf heavier than 50% of her own body weight. We are very happy with our mamma cows this year. They did a great job raising their calves!

.) 18-month and older Irish Black bulls have high quality semen and are capable of breeding 50 females. These are foundation bulls from a pure-bred program to deliver predictable progeny.  We develop them slowly, so they last for years to come.

.) Irish Blacks are resilient to brisket disease at high altitudes. They are adaptable to any climate or terrain.
